(Germany)It is the most important city of the federated state of Hesse, although the administrative capital is Wiesbaden. Frankfurt forms the urban nucleus of the Rin-Meno region. The European Central bank (BCE), one of the most representative institutions of the European Union (UE), has its main central office in Frankfurt. The governing organs of the BCE (Advice of Government and Executive Committee) direct the European System of Central banks (SEBC), whose functions consist of administering the monetary mass, conducting operations in currencies, conserving and administering currency to the official reserves of state members and guaranteeing the good operations of the payment systems. The Euro is handled from this city. A modern building that has accommodated the main office of the BCE since 2007, it is built at present on the banks of the ´Meno´ which was land previously occupied by the head office of market.Furthermore, Frankfurt is the financial centre of the country; it is home to the German stock-market, the federal bank (Bundesbank). Found here, there are the main offices of more than 370 banks, and the more important financial markets of the world, buy and sell their shares here on a daily basis. This and being close to the border of River Meno is also known as Mainhattan, in reference to Manhattan (New York).
